【口语 music topic】不妨说说猫剧

主题: 【口语 music topic】不妨说说猫剧

Performed in over 200 cities around the world, Andrew Lloyd-Weber's 'Cats' are coming to Beijing. The feline favourites who first performed in London in 1981 will be performing at The Great Hall of the People on Tiananmen Square from April 27th to May 3rd.
According to the China Performance Art Agency, over $20 million has been spent on bringing the giant production to Beijing. It may be the most expensive staging of a play in China ever! A special stage has had to be built in The Great Hall of the People because the existing building cannot be altered.
Cats - the musical was based on a poem by T S Eliot called 'Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats' which was written in 1939. Probably the most well known song from the musical is 'Memory'. All Cats from the Jellicle tribe meet together on the same night every year for a ball. They tell the audience that every cat has three names - the one the family uses daily, a more dignified name and a secret name that only they can reveal!
